ARCA has turned to the cyber highway to help tackle the recurring problem of fraudulent asbestos training certificates that are circulated within the industry. It has accomplished this by setting up its own validated online worker database.

Although the full number of fraudulent asbestos training certificates being use in the industry remains an unknown quantity with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), ARCA is adamant that its new web based Asbestos Worker Registration Scheme (AWRS) will provide validated and up to date information to help give confidence to Clients and employers when selecting the right team for the job.

AWRS is available to the Associations growing membership of 170 licensed asbestos removal contractors.

“Fraudulent certificates are an issue in the industry, although it is not such an extensive issue as some perceive”, explains Steve Sadley, ARCA’s General Manager. “This scheme is a route-one option to give clients confidence and could be the launch pad for a nationwide initiative as it provides greater transparency for the industry.”
